Festival Controversy
So the St Jean Baptiste festival folks tried to refuse allowing english artists to play during the festival - on their stages. A bunch of folks made a stink about it and the french chick who heads the Ministry of Culture is backing it up by saying it's a French celebration when in fact really, it's a Provincial celebration being funded by Provincial and Canadian dollars.

The 2009 Film Racing Tour will be coming to Montreal on Friday, July 24, 2009. Filmmakers will be challenged to create an original short film in just 24 hours, from 10PM on Friday, July 24 to 10PM on Saturday, July 25, 2009. All of the completed films will premiere on the big screen at a local theater a few days later and the teams will be competing for over $40,000 in cash & prizes against filmmakers across North America.
Dead line was July 2nd to register.

A bit more than your greasy fries and weiners, they actually take the time to make something a little better than diner food (though that's what it looks like - a diner).
